In keeping with the values espoused by IERM's partners, the Institute's main missions are :

  • Promote the recognition and enhancement of the academic achievements of researchers, doctoral candidates and students involved in the study of dissertations at partner universities.
  • Consolidate the credibility, recognition and support of their scientific projects.
  • Create the best possible conditions for the development of innovative interdisciplinary projects, both in the field of research and in the range of training courses on offer (continuing education, degree courses, professional training, or courses aimed at a wider public).
  • Develop national and international networks for research, knowledge production and dissemination.
  • Apply for grants and respond to calls for projects, consolidating them through the Institute's multi-disciplinary and inter-university contribution.
  • Collaborate with public and private economic operators developing applications or products, for example in the field of heritage and memorial tourism.
  • Contribute to the analysis of current changes in the socio-political, economic and cultural spheres, as well as in the environmental and landscape fields.
  • Provide tools for intervention in the face of ecological amnesia.
  • Help patients suffering from trauma, neurodegenerative diseases and memory disorders.
  • Provide expertise to public and private institutions called upon to adopt decisions or strategies in the field of remembrance (remembrance education, remembrance policies, remembrance legislation, sensitive remembrance issues, international relations, etc.).
